Dera Pradeep Singh, accused of Bargari sacrilege, has been shot dead in Faridkot, Punjab. Pradeep Singh, a follower of Dera Sacha Sauda, accused of theft and sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib, was shot dead by five unidentified men on two motorcycles in Punjab’s Kotakpura town, Pradeep’s bodyguard was also shot.
Who was Pradeep? Pradeep, an accused in the 2015 sacrilege incidents at Bargari, was one of those accused of being involved in the theft of Guru Granth Sahib in Burj Jawahar Singh Wala village. Pradeep Singh was accused of theft of Bir from a Gurdwara of Burj Jawahar Singh Wala on 1 June 2015. He was out on bail and was given security.
What did the police say? According to the Punjab Police, Pradeep was given security and the police personnel guarding him opened fire on the attackers, one of whom was injured. It is clearly visible in the CCTV footage how Pradeep is walking on foot and then suddenly people on bikes open fire on him.
Canadian-based gangster Goldie Brar has claimed responsibility for Pradeep’s murder, with a Facebook post claiming responsibility for the murder. Although the Facebook page has not been verified yet. Goldie Brar is the prime accused in the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reacted to Pradeep’s killing and tweeted, “It is a peace loving state with strong bonds of brotherhood among the people. No one will be allowed to disturb peace in Punjab. Strict instructions have been issued to civil and police officers. Maintain the peace of the state.”
