If you’ve pre-ordered Hogwarts Legacy, here are 5 things to know about the game before you dive into it.
After years of waiting, the time has (almost) finally come to discover Hogwarts Legacythe game inspired by the universe Harry Potter which promises to take us back to the heart of Hogwarts almost 25 years after the publication of the first book. Lifelong fans are already looking forward to it, and if you’ve pre-ordered your copy of the game, you probably are.
Before embarking on this large-scale adventure, there are a few things you need to know about the game. So here are the 5 facts you need to know about Hogwarts Legacy before playing it from February 10th.
Pre-order Hogwarts Legacy
Before Harry Potter was born
If you were planning to find the band of three lads made up of Harry, Ron and Hermione, stop immediately. The story ofHogwarts Legacy takes place long before they were born, so you won’t find any of the characters you already know. This also applies to those present in the Fantastic Beasts and the plot goes back far enough that even Dumbledore has yet to be born.
The game is set in the 1800s, we don’t know when exactly, when you play as a new student at Hogwarts. A mysterious threat threatens the wizarding world and it is up to you to brave this danger in order to make it disappear. On the synopsis side, Warner Bros. Games explains:
“Players will live the life of a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the 19th century and embark on a dangerous journey to uncover a hidden truth about the wizarding world. They will develop their magical abilities by mastering spells, brewing potions, taming magical creatures and more.”
JK Rowling is not involved in the creation
Who says original story, necessarily says writer and/or scriptwriter behind this new production. If the works Harry Potter are still as successful today, it is a little less the case of its creator, considered transphobic by the LGBTQIA + community. Many are calling for a boycott of the game outright, although Warner Bros has said JK Rowling had nothing to do with creating the game.Hogwarts Legacy. On the site, it is still mentioned:
“This is not a new JK Rowling story, but we have worked closely with her team on all aspects of the game to ensure it remains consistent with the magical experiences fans have come to expect..”
This is double-sided news since it can also be an inconvenience for those who wanted to discover an unpublished story by the novelist. However, everything should remain consistent with the universe and should not lose any fans along the way.
A fully customizable adventure
The strong point of this new Harry Potter game is its open world which promises to be colossal. Warner Bros guarantees us an almost limitless exploration of the corridors and rooms of the castle, but also the possibility of personalizing almost the slightest aspect of our experience. This already goes through the choice of our house: the famous Ravenclaw, Slytherin, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff.
Beyond that, you will have the possibility to customize your character thanks to numerous appearance customization parameters. As you progress, you will also be able to adapt your fighting style but also develop friendships with the characters you want. They may then join you in your quest.
You can link your Wizarding World account (Pottermore)
One of the most important points. Any self-respecting fan already knows the Wizarding World (formerly Pottermore) site. The latter is the official fan club interface through which you can find out which is your real Hogwarts house thanks to a sharp questionnaire. You can also find out what wood your wand is made of and what your patronus totem animal is.
So much information – official, we repeat – that can be transferred to Hogwarts Legacy thanks to the function that allows you to link your accounts. Doing so will ensure that you have the right information listed from the start and that you can proceed directly to customizing your character. But it also assures you of true fan bonuses as the studio indicates:
“A beaked skull mask and a student outfit that supports their in-game house, a special set of outfits in the image of each house so players can represent their house at Hogwarts in style.”
Early access 72 hours before
The last thing to know concerns players who have already pre-ordered their copy of the game. You should know that each pre-order gives you access to Hogwarts Legacy before the rest of the world, 72 hours before to be precise. The actual release date being set for February 10, early access will start on February 7. However, this is not valid for the old-gen versions, whose release date is still scheduled for April 4 without early access.
