Washington. Since the acquisition of American industrialist Elon Musk, Twitter has reduced the number of employees by about 80 percent. CNBC reported this, citing internal company records.
The San Francisco-based company had around 7,500 employees before Mr Musk finalized Twitter’s $44 billion acquisition at the end of October-2022, but the number has come down to around 1,300 active employees, according to the report.
The report said that Twitter now has less than 550 full-time engineers and less than 20 employees on the security team, and the company also has about 1,400 non-working employees who are still being paid.
In addition, about 75 of the company’s 1,300 employees are on leave, including 40 engineers. Mr Musk has also let go of a number of employees as he makes changes to the company’s day-to-day operations.
