denisse smokedwho works as councilor for the municipality of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, apparently combined her political activities with drug trafficking, since she was detained by Border Patrol agents in possession of a large drug shipment hidden in her vehicle.
According to a CBP statement, the official was heading to San Antonio and it was at a checkpoint in Falfurrias, Texas, about 100 kilometers from the border between the United States and Mexico, where her car was inspected.
The agents subjected the unit to an X-ray review, where they detected that there were packages inside the seats, so they did a manual inspection in which they found several wrappers with 42 kilos of cocainedistributed in various areas of the unit, including the door panels.
At that time, she was placed under arrest and information was given to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), which established that the woman had already transported drugs in the pastand this time the cargo was destined for the city of San Antonio.
The councilor went to the federal court in McAllen, Texas, where Judge Juan Alanís ordered her detention without bail.
Who is Dennise Ahumada?
Ahumada has a degree in International Relations and, before venturing into the world of politics, she worked coordinating imports and exports through the internet and supervising inventory in a manufacturing company.
She began as a councilor in the current administration of the Reynosa City Council in the ranks of the Green Ecologist Party, although he later joined the National Action Party (PAN). The councilor stated that she carried out her change because it was the best for her.
“National Action takes care of the well-being of citizens, the party I was in before did not do this,” he commented in a video with the state party leader, Luis René Cantú.
However, after her arrest was made known, Cantú described the alleged criminal acts in which the councilor for Reynosa was involved as reprehensible. “It is a conduct that we disapprove in National ActionAt the end of the day, we hope that the law determines their situation,” he said.
