Afghanistan: Explosion in deputy governor’s funeral, 11 people dead, 30 injured

Kabul (Kabul). 11 people were killed in a blast near a mosque on Thursday during the funeral of Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi, deputy governor of Badakhshan Province in Afghanistan. died) and 30 others were injured.

According to media reports, the blast took place near the Nawabi Masjid in Faizabad, Badakhshan. The attackers are yet to be traced. Let us tell you, the deputy governor of Badakhshan, Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi, was killed in a suicide attack on Tuesday morning. The deputy governor’s driver was also killed and 10 others were wounded in the attack in Faizabad, the provincial capital of Badakhshan.

According to media reports, a large number of people attended Ahmadi’s funeral on Thursday. A former Taliban police officer was among those killed and more than 30 others wounded in Thursday’s blast near the Nabawi Mosque, according to Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Nafi Takor. Takor expressed apprehension that the death toll could rise. According to media reports, an official of the Department of Communications and Culture said that former Baghlan police chief Safiullah Sameem was killed in the explosion on Thursday.

Former President Hamid Karzai condemned the attack
Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai condemned the attack. He tweeted that the attack on mosques is an act of terrorism and is against human and Islamic values.

At present, no terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for the attack. The armed group ISIL claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s car bombing. Taliban security forces have stepped up operations against ISIL members following the blast.
