Kabul. A former Afghan lawmaker and her bodyguard were shot dead by unidentified assailants at their home in Kabul. The police gave information about this on Sunday.
Significantly, Mursal Nabizada is one of the few women parliamentarians who were living in Kabul even after the Taliban seized power in August 2021. It is the first time since the Taliban regained power in the country, a lawmaker from the old government has been killed in the city.
Local police chief Maulvi Hamidullah Khalid said Nabizada and her bodyguard were shot dead in the same room around 3 am on Saturday. He said the former MP’s brother and another bodyguard were injured in the attack. At the same time, the third security guard has absconded from the house with money and jewelry.
