A Kashmiri student of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) alleges that some students barged into his room inside the hostel and assaulted him. The student claims that there was a scuffle with his colleagues as well and they were called terrorists. At the same time, in this matter, the police has talked about taking action soon.
Kashmiri student Jibran alleges that some students were playing badminton late on Saturday night in MM Hall of AMU and were making noise, the students assaulted him when he refused. After this incident, no action was taken by the AMU administration, so on Sunday night, a large number of Kashmiri students protested by closing the AMU Century Gate.
Jibran told that other students of AMU came and stopped them from protesting and started threatening them. Kashmiri students allege that incidents of fighting with Kashmiri students are happening on the AMU campus, due to which Kashmiri students are feeling insecure in the AMU campus.
What happened on 24 December?
Some people were playing badminton in AMU’s MM Hall late on Saturday night. That’s why Jibran, a student from Kashmir, talked about ending the game because of the noise. On this, an argument started between the Kashmiri and the playing students, after which the opposing students allegedly assaulted the Kashmiri student. When some people intervened, an agreement was reached between the two, but after that Jibran alleges that some students came to his room at night and beat him badly.
I was going to sleep at night, then there was a sound of some people playing and making noise, I refused them, they abused and hit me, no one helped me, they took 100 people with them. When they came, they had a desi katta too, they entered the room and started beating us, called the police several times, but got no response.
At the same time, while giving information on the matter, City Magistrate Meenu Rana says that Kashmiri students of AMU have complained about insecurity in the campus and that they have been assaulted. However, due to lack of any written complaint in the matter, action could not be taken. At present, while assuring Kashmiri students for their safety, a meeting with the AMU administration has been asked for further action.
