Washington. A top executive of e-commerce company Amazon has said that the company plans to invest an additional $15 billion in India, taking the company’s total investment in India to $26 billion. After meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the US, Amazon Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Andy Jassy said that the company has already invested $11 billion in India.
He said on Friday, “I had a very good and meaningful conversation with Prime Minister Modi. I think we have many goals in common. Amazon is one of the biggest investors in India. We have invested $11 billion so far and intend to invest another $15 billion, taking the total amount to $26 billion.
So we are very excited about the future of the partnership.” India’s Ministry of External Affairs tweeted that the Prime Minister had a productive meeting with the Chairman and CEO of Amazon. “Discussions focused on the possibility of expanding cooperation with Amazon in the logistics sector in India and the area of e-commerce,” the ministry tweeted. Modi welcomed Amazon’s initiative to promote digitization of MSMEs in India.
