America will get its first Muslim federal judge, Nusrat Chaudhary’s name stamped

Washington. The US Senate has confirmed the appointment of civil rights lawyer Nusrat Chaudhary as a federal judge. She will be the first Muslim female federal judge in US history. His appointment was voted on in the Senate on Thursday, confirming his name by a vote of 50-49.

She will take over as a judge in Brooklyn federal court in New York. American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)-Illinois Legal Director. The union has welcomed his appointment. Prior to this, she served in the national office of the ACLU from 2008 to 2020.
