Shaheen Shah Afridi’s injury ruled him out of the match after Pakistan captain Babar Azam lost the T20 World Cup 2022 final to England on Sunday. England could manage just 38 runs in 6-15 overs and needed 41 runs from the last five overs. Captain Babar gave the 16th over to Shaheen, but he could bowl only one ball due to a knee injury and the remaining five balls were given to Iftikhar Ahmed to bowl. Stokes changed the rhythm of the match by hitting a four and a six in this over. Moeen Ali hit Mohammad Wasim for three fours in the next over which turned the match in England’s favour.
Babar said after the match, “Congratulations England, they put up a good fight. We felt at home here, found love in every field. Thank you (fans) for the support. I told the boys to play their natural game, but we were 20 runs short. Still the boys fought brilliantly with the ball. Our bowling is one of the best attacks in the world. Unfortunately, Shaheen’s injury took us out of the match but it is part of the game.
