New Delhi. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) President Najam Sethi has announced the ODI World Cup to be held in India.vanade varld kap) on Friday cast doubt on his team’s participation in the event, saying it was “subject to government clearance”.
BCCI secretary and ACC chief Jai Shah will not be happy after hearing the statement made by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi on Friday on participating in the 2023 World Cup. In fact, Najam Sethi on Friday cast doubt on Pakistan’s participation in the 2023 World Cup, saying it was ‘subject to government approval’. With this attitude of Sethi, it will be difficult for the International Cricket Council ie ICC to finalize the schedule of the World Cup 2023.
Sethi’s comment is surprising even as all stakeholders, including Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Jay Shah, have agreed to the ‘hybrid model’ of the Asia Cup as proposed by the PCB chief. Before adopting this model, Pakistan had agreed to participate in the World Cup 2023. Now this U turn of Pakistan is surprising.
Sethi said during a press conference, ‘As far as India and Pakistan are concerned, neither PCB nor BCCI can take a decision. Only the concerned governments can take a decision in this.
Let us tell you that Pakistan is hosting the Asia Cup 2023. Due to political issues, India refused to go to Pakistan for this tournament, after which it was decided to organize the Asia Cup on a hybrid model. The ACC was earlier against this as well, but later this offer of the PCB was accepted. Now 4 matches of the Asia Cup 2023 group stage will be played in Pakistan, while all the remaining matches including the final will be held in Sri Lanka.
