BJP leader Bhupendra Patel took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on Monday i.e. December 12 in Gandhinagar in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is Patel’s second consecutive term as Chief Minister. Governor Acharya Devvrat administered the oath of office to Patel as the state’s 18th chief minister at a ceremony held at the helipad ground near the new secretariat.
The BJP won a record 156 out of 182 seats in the recently concluded Gujarat Assembly elections. This is BJP’s seventh consecutive victory in Gujarat assembly elections. Congress has won 17 seats and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has won 5 seats.
Patel (60) had resigned along with his entire cabinet on Friday to pave the way for the formation of a new government in the state. He was elected the leader of the BJP Legislature Party on Saturday, after which he met the Governor and staked claim to form the next government.

Kunvarji Halpati (Surat MLA from Mandvi seat) was administered the oath of office.
Who is Bhupendra Patel: Bhupendra Patel was born on 15 July 1962. Talking about educational qualification, he has done Diploma in Civil Engineering. Apart from spiritual activities, he is also fond of cricket, badminton.

Patel has also been the chairman of the Standing Committee of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). Bhupendra Patel comes from Patidar community. Bhupendra Patel is the MLA from Ghatlodia, the seat of former Chief Minister Anandi Patel. Bhupendra Patel is considered close to Anandi Ben.
He defeated Shashikant Patel in the 2017 election by a record 1 lakh 17 thousand votes. In the 2022 election, Patel broke his own previous record. He won by a record margin of 1 lakh 92 thousand 263 votes.
