BJP's action plan for MCD elections, list of more than 60 star campaigners ready.

The BJP, which has been in power in the MCD since 2007, has prepared a long list of more than 60 star campaigners to return to power in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for the fourth time in a row. It also includes the names of party president Jagat Prakash Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah. According to party leaders, the election campaign will pick up pace on November 20 with roadshows in all the districts of the national capital. Each roadshow will be at least 1.5 km long.

Other Union ministers including Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Smriti Irani, Piyush Goyal, Kiren Rijiju and Anurag Thakur are also likely to participate in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections. The list will be released after getting approval from the national leadership.

A senior BJP leader in Delhi said that the party is planning to hold 250 small public meetings in different parts of the city to reach out to non-Hindi speaking people living in South Indian states, Odisha, West Bengal and North Eastern states.

Another BJP leader associated with the MCD election campaign said that RK Puram, CR Park, Satya Niketan and Munirka in South Delhi have a sizeable population of people from these areas. The campaign is likely to begin between November 21 and 23 after a party meeting chaired by Nadda and Shah, he said.
Party leaders said the party has sought approval from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Bishwa Sharma, among others.

The main contest in the municipal elections will be between BJP, AAP and Congress. Voting for the MCD elections will be held on December 4, with the counting of votes taking place on December 7.
