A Class V student in Delhi was allegedly attacked with scissors by a teacher and then thrown from the first floor of the school building. Police said on Friday that the accused teacher has been taken into custody. He said that after this incident, a large crowd of people gathered at the primary school located in Model Basti area of central Delhi. Officials said that the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
A senior police officer said that the accused teacher, identified as Geeta Deshwal, attacked the student with a small scissor and then threw her down from the first floor. He said that the injured girl student is being treated at Hindu Rao Hospital and her condition is said to be out of danger.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Shweta Chauhan said that based on the statements of eyewitnesses, a case of attempt to murder is being registered under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code. He said that the accused teacher has been taken into custody. An official of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi said that the accused teacher has been suspended with immediate effect and further investigation is underway.
