In the midst of the scandal hide classified documents and his intentions to seek again the presidency of the United States, donald trump stated that convicted drug traffickers should be sentenced to death penaltya subject that he has previously touched on as a promise if he reaches the White House again.

During an interview with the presenter Bret Baier of Fox News Trump assured that the United States must impose stronger punishments against drug traffickers in order to reduce this type of criminal practices, for which reason he declared himself in favor of condemning them to the death penalty.

In this regard, the presenter reminded Trump that when he was president of the country, he granted clemency and pardoned Alice Johnson’s sentence in 2018, accused of drug trafficking.

Trump pardoned Alice Johnson

The former president responded that his pardon powers were especially focused on nonviolent criminals.

The Alice Johnson case became relevant during the Trump administration, since the woman was serving a life sentence since 1996, ineligible for parole for a nonviolent drug offense.

Then-President Trump commuted the sentence of Alice Marie Johnson, 63who spent more than 20 years in prison.

Kim Kardashian advocated for the woman

The announcement came after socialite Kim Kardashian advocated for Johnson at the White House.

After the brief reminder about Johnson, Baier told him that in that case, the woman would have been sentenced to death, but Trump insisted that she committed the crime without violence.

“But she would have been killed under your plan…As a drug dealer”, cBaier questioned.

“Hey? … “No no no. under that? It would depend on the severity,” former President Trump responded.

The former president has promised a strong hand against drug traffickers and human traffickers, if he becomes president of the United States again.
