The Meteorological and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) said that a 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck the Indonesian capital of Koya on Monday. The BMKG said the epicenter was in Cianjur, West Java, at a depth of 10 km (6.21 mi), and there was no possibility of a tsunami. Some people evacuated offices in Jakarta’s Central Business District, while others felt buildings shaking and saw furniture moving, Reuters witnesses said.
At least 20 people have been killed and at least 300 injured in an earthquake that hit Indonesia’s main island of Java, AFP reported, citing a local official.
