Bharatiya Kisan Sangh is conducting ‘Kisan Garjana Rally’ in the capital Delhi. It is claimed that there is a gathering of more than 40 thousand farmers in this rally. BKS is on the road against the government on the issue related to farmers. Farmers from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat have reached the rally. According to the organisers, around 60,000 people are expected to participate in the rally.
The gathering of farmers has started at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan for the ‘Kisan Garjana rally’ demanding various relief measures from the government. A note issued by Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS)- said, “If the government does not pay attention to the demands of the farmers on time, it will have to face trouble”.
What is the demand of farmers
Farmers are demanding remunerative price for their crops on the basis of cost. The farmers have also called for withdrawal of GST on all types of agricultural activities and allowing commercial production of genetically modified crops.
BKS demands that the central government should not impose Goods and Services Tax (GST) on agricultural produce. Apart from this, the organization is also demanding to free all agricultural produce from GST.

Along with this, the demand for increase in the amount of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi in proportion to the increased cost of cultivation is also being raised. Apart from the subsidy in food grains, the farmer’s organization is also demanding financial assistance to the farmers through DBT.
Demand to increase the amount of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi
Farmers are also pressurizing the Center to increase the financial assistance given under the ‘PM-Kisan’ scheme. Under the scheme launched in December 2018, farmer families with all land holdings are provided assistance of Rs 6,000 per year in three equal instalments.
Farmers’ organization demands that help should also be given for irrigation and river link projects. Along with promoting organic farming in the country, many other demands are also being made including the demand to increase the income of the farmers.
