Ankara. An explosion at a factory in Turkey on Saturday killed five workers and caused part of the building to collapse. An officer gave this information. Governor Vasip Sahin told reporters that the explosion occurred at around 9 a.m. at the compound of state-owned Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation on the outskirts of the country’s capital, Ankara. Explosives and rockets are made in the factory.
He said that it is estimated that the explosion occurred due to chemical reaction during the production of dynamite. Private NTV television channel reported that smoke could be seen rising from the factory premises and ambulances and fire engines were sent to the scene.
According to television news, the glasses in the windows of the nearby shops and houses were broken due to the explosion. According to the channel, relatives of the workers working in the factory reached there to know their well-being.
