Des Plaines (USA). Former US Vice President Mike Pence will launch his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination from Iowa on Wednesday. Pence was the Vice President during the tenure of former President Donald Trump. Trump has already said that he will join the race to become the Republican Party’s nominee.
This would be the first time that a former president would face a challenge from his vice president in an attempt to win the Republican presidential nomination. Pence and his advisers are considering Iowa as a key location for his nomination. Nomination voting within the Republican Party will be the first in this state. Iowa has a large number of Christian voters and Pence’s supporters see the state as a potential constituency for the former vice president.
He also feels that Pence, who represents Indiana in Congress, has a personality well suited for the state. “We believe the road to victory runs through Iowa and its 99 counties,” said Scott Reed, co-chair of the ‘super PAC’ campaign launched last month to support Pence’s candidacy. Sources had said that Pence could make an official announcement about his candidacy on Wednesday at an event in Des Moines to mark his 64th birthday.
