Berlin. The ‘flames’ of French riots have reached Lausanne in neighboring Switzerland where seven people, most of them teenagers, have been detained after some shops were pelted with stones. The police gave this information on Sunday.
Police said in a statement that more than 100 people gathered on Saturday evening in the central area of French-speaking Lausanne in western Switzerland. It has been said in the statement that they had gathered after an appeal made on social media regarding the violence in France. France has been rocked by violence after a police shooting killed a 17-year-old in a suburb of Paris.
The window panes of several shops were broken and the door of a shop was damaged due to stone pelting and petrol bomb hurling by youths, police said. Police said it detained six minors, aged between 15 and 17, three girls and three boys and having nationalities of Portugal, Somalia, Bosnia, Switzerland, Georgia and Serbia. Police said they have also detained a 24-year-old Swiss national. No police officer was injured in the incident.
