Just before its proprietary showcase, Ubisoft dazzles us with the first Star Wars Outlaws trailer.
For many years, the only video games Star Wars that were allowed to see the light of day were necessarily under the banner of EA. Now that the firm no longer has an exclusivity agreement with LucasFilm Games, the franchise is reinventing itself under the pen (or rather the mouse) of other developers. This is the case of Quantic Dream with star wars eclipse but also from Ubisoft which had a secret game in the works.
This was finally unveiled during the Xbox showcase to the amazement of the players. star wars outlaws is an open-world title that already promises to be the most epic. The first images are convincing, especially in terms of the visual identity of the game and the charisma of the main character. Here are the first details.
A new badass heroine
In star wars outlaws, we play a young woman named Kay Vess, described by the studio as a “rogue on the rise”. Her goal is to be able to give herself and her companion Nix a new life, but to get there she goes through methods that the authorities don’t like so much. For once, we are not dealing with a virtuous Jedi, but with an inveterate delinquent who will join the greatest outlaws of the galaxy.
Ubisoft informs us that it will be possible to explore and survey several emblematic planets of the franchise Star Wars. It is an open world, so we expect the greatest care in the decorations. The studio also specifies that the work is located in the known chronology of Star Warsbetween the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
Crazy gameplay
During the Ubisoft showcase, we were treated to a gameplay trailer following the announcement of the game. This one already promises to put infiltration and discretion at its heart, normal when you play as a thief. But we will also be entitled to some last minute fights and above all a gripping narration. During the video, Kay Vess makes a decision towards a non-player character, which directly impacts the story and status of our heroine.
She is also an enemy of the Empire, we are not immune to conflict, even in space. Indeed, we were able to witness a scene of confrontation by interposed vessels. We do not yet know if it will be possible to pilot outside of scriptwriting obligations.
