According to the information received from the Chamoli District Information Officer, a vehicle has met with an accident on the Urgam-Palla Jakhola motorway of Joshimath block. About 12 people are said to be riding in the vehicle.
District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana, Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobal along with SDRF, NDRF, police and administration team have left for the spot. It is being told that the vehicle was going from Joshimath towards Kimana. At present, the reasons for the accident have not been known yet.
A statement has been issued by SDRF on the accident. SDRF spokesperson said, “A vehicle fell into a 500-700 deep gorge off Dumka Road in Palla Jakhol village of Chamoli, in which 12-13 people were aboard. Rescue operations are on. Another SDRF team has been sent from Post Pandukeshwar.”
