Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has given a big relief to former Prime Minister of Pakistan and President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan. The Islamabad High Court on Tuesday declared the Toshakhana case inadmissible and approved Khan’s bail plea. PTI has declared this decision of the court as its victory.
Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Justice Amir Farooq has given this decision. Significantly, the bail plea of Imran Khan is being heard in Islamabad today (Tuesday). According to the Pakistani media report, today i.e. Tuesday, there will be a hearing on bail applications in a total of six cases. It will also hear bail petitions related to May 9, the day Imran Khan was taken into custody from the Islamabad High Court, which had created a ruckus in Pakistan.
Imran Khan hid things
Significantly, on May 10, the petition was filed after the PTI chief was convicted in the Toshakhana case. Imran Khan was accused of deliberately concealing the details of the gifts he had received from the Toshakhana (a store where gifts handed over to government officials by foreign dignitaries are kept) during his tenure as Prime Minister.
Know the whole matter
Last year, a case was filed against Imran Khan by MPs of the ruling coalition, accusing him of not sharing details of gifts received from Toshakhana in his asset declaration. After which the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said in October last year that the PTI chief had filed false statements regarding the gifts. Also they have hidden things.
In fact, Imran Khan had given his argument that he had bought all these gifts from Toshakhana for Rs 2.15 crores and got Rs 5.8 crores after selling them. However, later it was revealed that Imran Khan got more than Rs 20 crore by selling it.
