COURT

Singapore. An Indian-origin woman named Hindocha Neeta Vishnubhai was attacked in Singapore for not wearing a mask about two years ago. On May 7, 2021, a Chinese man allegedly kicked a woman in the chest and made a racial slur in the Cho Chu Kang housing estate.

However, now the court has convicted the accused. Soon he will be punished. Earlier, the Indian-origin woman had said in the court trial that she has not recovered from the trauma caused by the incident.

There was a dispute regarding the mask

Hindocha told that the incident took place at a time when wearing masks was made mandatory in Singapore regarding Corona. The victim told that she usually walks with fast steps, in such a situation, she had lowered her mask a little to breathe. That’s when Jing Fong, 32, and his fiancee Chua Yun Han started screaming. Both yelled at him for the mask and made racial slurs.

Thereafter, the accused kicked her on the chest, Hindocha said, due to which she fell down and her hand started bleeding. After this the accused and his female companion left from there. At the bus stop, a woman helped to lift him and administered first aid, he said. Later in the evening, he had given a complaint to the police.

the accused denied

At the same time, during the hearing in the court, an eyewitness said that he had seen a man kicking the woman. However, Fong claimed that Vishnubhai spoke obscenities first. He said that the woman had spit on him and his fiancee. So he pushed the victim. The accused said that he had used foul words, but had not made a racial remark.

hope to be punished soon

According to media reports, Fong was convicted on Tuesday. Sentencing is expected on July 31 for killing Vishnubhai and hurting his sentiments.
