After the Avengers disaster, here is another superhero game that may make gamers angry.
The Rocksteady studio is preparing its return with its first project since Arkham Knight in 2015 (and Arkham VR in 2016). This time around, players find themselves on the side of the antiheroes with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The game unveiled in 2020 is finally coming to consoles and PC after a postponement last year. Since the Game Awards 2022, the meeting has been fixed at May 26, 2023. The game will be playable in up to 4 co-op as each player takes on the role of one of the villain squad members, namely Harley Quiin, King Shark, Captain Boomerang, and Deadshot.
Faced with the legacy of the studio and the DC Universe, expectations are high, but the soufflé falls before it even comes out of the oven. The title has just suffered a leak far from being to its advantage. This is a simple image of the main menu, but information contained on it reveals the presence of the new enemy of gamers: a battle pass.
So…

Superheroes and microtransactions
If there is a lesson to be learned from attempting a game avengers by the Crystal Dynamics teams is that comics and live service games should not be mixed up. With an operation and an economic model that is too off-putting, the co-op Marvel game has drawn the wrath of players and critics. Result, the title has never been able to evolve and achieve its objectives, a very sad story when the project had something to dream about.
For its part, DC is teaming up with Rocksteady to produce their own co-op game of the genre. Three years after their competitor’s fiasco, the plans to avoid are right before their eyes. However, the teams leap into the flat by following in the footsteps of this failure. Even if we do not know the level of implications of live service mechanics in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguethis news does not bode well for the title to the imminent release.
According to the sources of our colleagues from VGC, this battle pass would only give access to cosmetic rewards. Since DC’s video game reputation has already taken a hit with Gotham Knights, Rocksteady has no room for error with its youngest. We will have to wait a little longer before the verdict in 4 months. To be continued…
