The Jharkhand government bowing down to the opposition of the Jain community has changed its decision to make Sammed peak a tourist center.
In fact, the entire society across the country had come out on the road against the notification to declare Sammed Shikhar, a holy place of Jain community located in Giridih district, as a tourist center.
Protests took place across the country from 11th December, while preparations were on for the fast unto death from 25th December. Meanwhile, there is news that the Jharkhand government has changed its decision bowing to the opposition of the society. That means now the status quo will be maintained at Sammed Shikhar.
Acharya Shri Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj himself has announced in this regard on Paras Channel. Information about this is also coming out on Jinvani channel. People of Jain society had also closed their establishments in many cities against the Jharkhand government, while a campaign was launched against the decision by signing with blood.
Nirmal Kumar Patodi, President of Sadbhavna Paramarthik Trust, said that in 2019, on the proposal of the Jharkhand government, the central government issued a notification in the gazette to make Sammed Shikharji a tourist destination. This is playing with the faith of the entire Jain society. Located in Giridih district of Jharkhand, this mountain is the center of faith of the entire Jain community. This mountain is the place of liberation of 20 Tirthankara gods. His footprints are marked here since ancient times. An infinite number of souls have attained liberation here. If hotels or other commercial establishments were built on the mountain, its purity would have been lost.
He told that from December 11, under the leadership of Sanjay Jain, president of Vishwa Jain Sangathan, a campaign was launched across the country against the decision of the Jharkhand government. On December 18, along with Jain and Hindu saints, parliamentarians of all religions in one voice demanded withdrawal of the notification. It is being said that the Jharkhand government has withdrawn the decision. If the government did not withdraw its decision, then there was a preparation for a fast unto death from 25 December.
National President of Digambar Jain Mahasamiti Ashok Jain said that we had only one demand that the sanctity of the mountain should not be destroyed. The mountain on which we, the people of Jain community, do not go wearing slippers, after becoming a tourist destination, people reach there wearing shoes and slippers, consume alcohol and meat, whereas we do not even eat onion and garlic. Jain told that we reach this holy mountain barefoot only after walking 27 kms. We have not demanded any kind of facility from the Jharkhand government, we only want that the sanctity of Sammed Shikhar ji should not be violated.
