Four terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces on 28 December in Jammu district of Jammu and Kashmir. The terrorists were traveling in a truck on National Highway-44 near Sidhra bridge on the outskirts of old Jammu city.
Additional Director General, Jammu, Mukesh Singh said that the terrorists hiding in the truck were heavily armed. 7 AK-47 rifles and 3 pistols have also been recovered from the terrorists. He said that the exact number of terrorists can be ascertained only after searching the truck.
Police said that the police and security forces started searching the truck, after which the terrorists hiding inside started firing, after which the security forces retaliated. The security forces immediately surrounded the truck and stopped the movement of vehicles on that part of the highway. Police said that during the encounter all four terrorists were killed and the truck caught fire.

The truck driver is absconding from the spot. According to the report of The Indian Express, sources said that an alert has been issued to track him. Police said that the slain terrorists are being identified.
Local police and security forces are on high alert in view of the Republic Day celebrations in Jammu and Kashmir. The ADG said that a quick response team noticed unusual movement of a truck on the National Highway and started following it. As the truck reached the naka at Sidhra bridge around 7 am, the police signaled it to stop and asked the driver to get out. The driver escaped by taking advantage of the dense fog.
