Law and order in Uttar Pradesh seems to be visible only on paper. Security seems to be creeping in the state. The police ( UP Police ) which takes salary from the government to give security and confidence to the people, the same police can be seen doing arbitrary things to the people in Uttar Pradesh. The latest case is of Kanpur where a businessman died in police custody. Shivli police had arrested Balwant on suspicion of robbery. The family alleges that Balwant was mercilessly beaten in custody, due to which he died. The Human Rights Commission of Uttar Pradesh has taken cognizance of the matter.
Family allegation – death in custody
On December 12, Shivli police arrested Balwant Singh on suspicion of robbery, after which Shivli police took Balwant to the police station. The family alleges that Balwant, who was arrested by the police, was beaten up in custody, after which Balwant died. After the death, angry relatives opened a front against the administration. Top officials gave assurances of strict action, after which the dead body was cremated.
6 teams for arrest, 11 policemen suspended
A case of murder has been registered against the police personnel. SOG incharge Prashant Gautam related to the case has been arrested by the police. The Human Rights Commission of Uttar Pradesh has taken cognizance of the matter. So far 11 policemen have been suspended in the case. At the same time, the police department has set up 6 teams to arrest the absconding policemen.
