A case of church vandalized in Karnataka has come to light in Mysore district of Karnataka. At the same time, an attempt has been made to break the idol of Baby Jesus. Money has also been stolen from the donation box, this incident took place at St. Mary’s Church in Periyapatna, Mysore and the police suspect that it is a case of theft. This incident happened two days after Christmas.
The incident came to light around 6 pm on Tuesday when the staff found the statue of Baby Jesus damaged and money missing from the donation box. The pastor of the church has lodged a complaint with the police. Tension spread when the local people got the news of the vandalism in the church.
Mysore Superintendent of Police Seema Latkar told the media that prima facie it appeared to be a case of theft as the attackers fled with money and a collection box placed outside the church, adding, “We have formed special teams and the investigation is on”.
According to a police officer, the miscreants entered the church through the back door. The matter is being investigated and every angle will be considered. There is no CCTV camera installed in the church premises. The nearest CCTV is located in a school.
