MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, reportedly finalized her second divorce after a year of marriage, following a 2019 scandal that exposed how the tech mogul had cheated on her.
The The 52-year-old philanthropist officially separated from Dan Jewett, a chemistry teacher at her sons’ posh private school, in court documents signed by a Washington state judge. on January 4, according to People magazine.
Scott and Jewett were quietly married in March 2021, a couple of years after Bezos, 58, was caught sending sordid selfies to his then-lover Lauren Sanchez, prompting Scott to divorce him in July 2019.
In September, Scott filed for divorce from Jewett and a property agreement will be finalized in documents that have not yet been filed, according to files obtained by People magazine. They have no children together.
Jewett did not contest the divorce and both had signed a prenuptial agreement.
Scott, a novelist and the third-richest woman in the US, was married to Bezos for nearly 25 years and has four children with him.
He reportedly parted ways with Bezos with a staggering $38.3 billion worth of Amazon stock.
Their divorce settlement included a 4% stake in the online retail giant or 19.7 million shares. Under the deal, Bezos kept 75% of the couple’s Amazon shares, along with voting control of their shares.
Pledged to give more than half of his wealth to charity, Scott has since donated at least $14 billion to 16,000 nonprofit organizations, according to his YieldGiving.com website.
In March, he donated $436 million to Habitat for Humanity International and 84 of its affiliates in the US.
As of last month, his wealth was estimated at $27 billion, according to Forbes.
Meanwhile, Bezos’ net worth was valued at $110 billion, and in 2020 he was on track to become the world’s number one trillionaire by 2026.
Bezos and Sanchez, a former Fox news anchor in Los Angeles, reportedly live together but have not married. Bezos’ marital dirty laundry was aired when risqué selfies leaked, including a crotch shot of her, which she sent to Sanchez in January 2019.
