James Wesley Henry, 43, faces felony charges after he allegedly stabbed a dog while its owner was playing in a North Carolina park.
The man was arrested for the murder of the mixed-breed dog named Beignet in an Asheville park and charged with cruelty to animals, Asheville police said.
Henry allegedly He approached the defenseless 11-year-old dog, grabbed him by the neck and cut him with a knife over and over again, until he was dead.the police said.
Liesbeth Mackie, the dog’s owner, reported CBC News, which sYour dog was lying in the shade when a companion said, “Someone is hitting your dog.”
Asheville Police Capt. Michael Lamb said witnesses saw the man acting erratically before he “approached the dog and started cutting him with a knife.”
Both the owner and other witnesses to the ruthless attack chased after Henry as he began to walk away, dropping a knife as they followed at a safe distance.
The suspect was quickly identified and arrested. He was booked into a detention center on a $10,000 bond. and charged with cruelty to animals, authorities said.
This event occurs almost a week after another similar one, when a man stabbed a puppy to death in Central Park, a fact that was recorded and shared on social networks.
