Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he abuses the Congress daily four quintals and attacks party leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. He said that what Congress had built in the past, you are selling today.
Kharge was addressing a rally in favor of Congress candidate Satyajit Singh Gaikwad in Waghodia town of Gujarat’s Vadodara district. Earlier in the day, Modi, while addressing an election rally at Kalol in Panchmahal district in Gujarat, said that Congress leaders were competing to see who would abuse Modi the most.
Kharge said that Modiji repeatedly claims that we insulted him. He accuses me and other Congress leaders of using abusive words for him. Sometimes Modiji says that he is poor. How long will you keep saying that I am poor? How is this possible when you were the Chief Minister of Gujarat for almost 13 and a half years and the Prime Minister for the last 8 years?

One can imagine the plight of Dalits, poor and tribal people if Modi remains poor even after holding the post of Chief Minister and Prime Minister for two decades, he said.
Kharge alleged that Modi makes such claims to get “sympathy” and he should raise the issue of development during elections. He said that Modi claims that Congress abuses him 2 kg per day. But the truth is that you give us 4 quintals of abuse every day. Sometimes you target me or Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi. You can’t digest food without abusing us, but for citizens, we never say anything.
He said that if Congress had not protected democracy and constitution in India for 7 decades, Modi and his friends would never have become Prime Minister and Chief Minister.
Kharge also accused Modi and his government of “selling off properties” that were built during the previous Congress rule. Whatever we had built in the past, Modiji is selling everything, whether it is a port or airport, he said. After selling such properties, they ask us what we did in the last 70 years. I want to tell them that whatever you are selling, we made them.
