The authorities reported that The driver of a car crashed into a busy restaurant located in a lakeside town in New Hampshire on Sunday afternoon, leaving more than 30 people injured.

The Laconia Fire Department was dispatched to the Looney’s Bin Bar & Grill in Lakonia around 12:40 p.m. local time after multiple people reported a four-door sedan crashing into the premises, the fire department said in a Facebook news release.

“Due to the large number of people inside the establishment when the car struck the building, and the unknown number of people injured, a second Mass Casualty Alarm (MCI) alarm was requested,” the fire department said.

“The Lakonia companies quickly began triaging those involved to identify the patients with the most significant injuries,” he added.

Responders transported about 14 people, two with significant lower leg injuries, to Laconia Hospital, Concord Hospital and Franklin Hospital.. While 12 other patients suffered lacerations, bruises and other non-life-threatening injuries, the fire department said.

At least 20 people were evaluated at the scene by emergency personnel but did not require transport to hospitals from the community about 27 miles north of Concord on Lake Winnipesaukee.

“There were a lot of people inside due to it being lunchtime and a holiday weekend,” Laconia Fire Captain Chad Vaillancourt said in the statement.

The building suffered significant damage.

The fire department said the cause of the accident is under investigation.
