It is being told that the people in the boat were returning after attending a wedding ceremony in Egboti village of Niger State in northern Nigeria. Nigerian police spokesman Okasanmi Ajayi told that people had arrived to attend the wedding ceremony with the help of a boat in the Niger River. A large number of women and children were also aboard the boat.
The accident happened at 3 am, help reached after hours
At present, the reason for the accident is not clear. But it is being told that there were more than 100 people in the boat and many people were taking bikes along with them. The accident happened at 3 am, so help could not reach the victims. People came to know about this incident long after the accident.
Niger is included in the largest rivers
