The mother of a 16-month-old baby was accused of the death of the little girl whom she allegedly left alone for eight days in a house in Cleveland (Ohio) while she was on vacationlocal media reported this Wednesday.
Kristel Candelario, 31, was arrested for leaving her daughter alone and without care inside the house from June 8 to June 16, during which time allegedly he was on vacation in Puerto Rico and Detroit (Michigan)NBC affiliate WKYC reported.
The Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department said that the woman returned from the supposed vacation last Friday and found that the girl was unresponsive.
According to court documents cited by the television station, Candelario told police that he had left the girl alone while he went on a trip.
Police found the girl “wrapped in dirty blankets” with feces and urine.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the girl’s cause of death, but court records indicate she was “extremely dehydrated” when found.
Candelario was charged with one count of first degree murder and is in jail.
The judge set bail for him at one million dollars and he will return to court on June 28.
Boy accidentally shot his mother
Also in Ohio, the police reported an unfortunate event that occurred last week. ORa pregnant woman died after her two-year-old son grabbed a gun and shot her in the back.
Laura Ilg, 31, called 911 Friday afternoon and told the dispatcher that she was 33 weeks pregnant and that her 2-year-old son had shot herthe Norwalk Police Department said in a statement reviewed by NBC.
Her unborn child was pronounced dead less than an hour after the 911 call was made, while the woman was pronounced dead at 5:10 p.m.
Responding officers took possession of the weapon, a Sig Sauer P365, along with a casing and loaded magazine.
