Islamabad. At least 10 people were killed and six others injured after lightning struck parts of Pakistan’s East Punjab province. Relief and rescue officials gave this information.
State government-run rescue organization Rescue 1122 said incidents of lightning were reported during the last 24 hours in the province’s Sheikhupura and Narowal districts, where several houses collapsed after being struck by lightning following heavy rains. The injured have been shifted nearby, while rescue teams across the province have been put on high alert to deal with any untoward situation.
Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman said in a tweet on Sunday morning that pre-monsoon rains are expected across the country till June 30, during which strong winds, thunder and heavy rains are expected in various cities of Punjab.
Anti-terrorist operation ends in Russia’s Voronezh region
The legal system of the anti-terrorist operation in the Voronezh region of Russia has been canceled. The regional office of the Federal Security Service (FSB) gave this information on Monday. An anti-terrorist operation was launched in the Russian capital Moscow and the Voronezh region on Saturday to prevent possible terrorist acts and activities linked to the private military company (PMC) Wagner. Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee said earlier on Monday that the ruling had been canceled in Moscow and the Moscow region. The FSB regional office said that the anti-terrorist operation system has been cancelled.
