Karachi. A senior Pakistani lawyer, who had filed a treason case against former Prime Minister Imran Khan, was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Balochistan province while he was on his way to court. The police gave this information on Wednesday. Abdul Razzaq Shar, a lawyer of the Pakistan Supreme Court, was killed in firing by unidentified assailants on Quetta’s Airport Road on Tuesday, police said.
He said that after being shot, the lawyer was immediately taken to Quetta Civil Hospital, but he died on the way. Ayesha Riaz, a surgeon at the Quetta Civil Hospital, told reporters that Shar was hit by 16 bullets in the attack. Senior police officer Gul Muhammad said six unidentified men on three motorcycles attacked Shar when he was going to the Supreme Court in his vehicle in connection with a case.
He said that Shar was shot in the chest, neck and stomach, due to which he died. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Attaullah Tarar condemned the killing and said that Shar had filed a petition in the Balochistan High Court (BHC) to prosecute opposition leader Khan for treason. He alleged that he was murdered because of this.
