A teenage girl was allegedly gang-raped by 8 people in a village in Palghar district of Maharashtra. The police have arrested all the accused involved in the incident. An official gave this information on Sunday.
The incident took place on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday and the accused first raped the girl in an empty bungalow in their seashore village and then took her to the beach, where they raped her again, the official said. A spokesperson of the Palghar district rural police said that a case of gangrape has been registered against the accused at the Satpati police station. He told that the age of the victim is around 16 years.
The spokesperson said, “In her complaint lodged on Saturday, the victim said that the accused raped her several times one by one from 8 pm on December 16 till 10 am the next day. During this, the accused took her to an empty bungalow in Mahim village, where all of them raped her. They later took her to the beach, where they raped her again in the bushes.”
According to the spokesperson, on the complaint of the victim, the police arrested the eight accused on Sunday morning and registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. Further investigation is going on in the matter.
