New York. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met and exchanged views with prominent American economist Professor Paul Romer, investor and co-founder of hedge fund Bridgewater Associates Ray Dalio and other eminent personalities from various walks of life in the US. During his meeting with these people, the Prime Minister informed them about the steps being taken by his government to boost economic growth. Modi is here on the first leg of his first state visit to the US at the invitation of US President Joe Biden.
Modi and Prof. Romer discussed India’s digital journey, including the use of Aadhaar and innovative tools like DigiLocker. He also discussed various initiatives being taken by India for urban development. Modi tweeted after the meeting, “Delighted to meet Professor Paul Romer, renowned economist and Nobel laureate.
We talked about leveraging technology to improve lives. We also talked about making our cities more sustainable and people-friendly.” In the meeting with Dalio, the Prime Minister mentioned the reforms undertaken by the government to boost economic growth. Modi invited Dalio to invest more in India. Modi tweeted, “Met my friend, distinguished author and investor Ray Dalio.
Urged them to further increase investment in India.” PM Modi also met astrophysicist, author Neil de Grasse Tyson and discussed inculcating scientific temper among the youth. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that they discussed in detail India’s rapid progress in the space sector, including the various space exploration missions being undertaken by India. The Prime Minister and Tyson also discussed opportunities for private sector and academic collaboration under India’s new National Space Policy.
