Washington. Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to the US, American corporate giants have said that they are excited about India and want to see further technology cooperation between the two countries in areas such as semiconductors, defence, cyber security and telecommunications. The US India Business Council (USIBC) organized its annual India Ideas Summit on Tuesday. It was the largest gathering of Indian and American chief executive officers (CEOs) ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit next week.
USIBC President Atul Keshap said, the atmosphere in the meeting was very positive. Everyone is happy with this trip. Everyone wants to see our technology cooperation deepen on things like semiconductors, defense as well as cyber security, telecom, 5G and 6G. Keshap said, he wants to see deals between the two countries. We want the trade between the two countries to reach $500 billion as soon as possible.
He said, I want to see more defense deals. Defense contracts are very important. Vivek Lall, CEO of General Atomics Global Corporation, said the atmosphere regarding Modi’s visit is very encouraging. It is going to be a historic event when the Prime Minister comes to Washington DC next week, he said. I think the business community and certainly the government community is looking forward to the visit very keenly. He said that this visit will give direction to the relations between the two countries for decades to come. All walks of life, especially the business community here is looking forward to great outcomes from the bilateral meetings.
