Sony’s PS5 Slim has just leaked in a video that showcases its rather unique design.
In the gaming community, two consoles are particularly expected: the Nintendo Switch 2 (or Pro) and PS5 Slim. The latter is still very mysterious, and its very existence has not yet been confirmed by Sony. However, it is the subject of many rumors and its design has just leaked online. A leaker, by the name of BwE, has just posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) with a PS5 Slim shell in hand… or what looks like it at least.
Almost in all respects similar to the design that we know of the PS5, the Slim version should sport the same black and white shades, with a cut in the hull right in the middle to differentiate it from other models. We can also see some differences, including the alleged removable disk drive clearly detachable on the images. The leaker affirms it, if the console seems light it is because it is only the shell, a completely empty version inside the PS5 Slim.

What the rumors say
Compared to everything the latest rumors claim, the leaker’s video is on point. However, it is always possible that the design seen in the video is only a shell imagined and printed in 3D by the Internet user. It does not show us the components that make it up, nor the details of its external design. In addition, some elements catch the eye.
The hull, for example, seems to be coated with a lacquered layer, which shines as the light approaches, while Sony has chosen a matte look for its classic console. For a Slim version of the PS5, the console held by the leaker, the console doesn’t feel smaller or thinner than the digital PS5, which also seems surprising. Everything therefore remains to be confirmed by Sony directly, which has been playing deaf ears for months.
As the PS5 slowly but surely approaches its third anniversary, this could mark halfway through its life cycle (approximately 7 years per generation). If the company sticks to its schedule, the Slim and Pro versions of the PS5 should be imminent, although nothing is known yet about these two behemoths, or even if they will see the light of day. With the release of PSVR 2 earlier this year, ambitions on the hardware side may have been redefined internally, or lagged behind previous generations.
