London. Former minister Nicola Sturgeon, who dominated Scottish politics for many years, has been arrested on charges of causing disturbances in the financial affairs of her party.
Nicola was arrested on Sunday by police investigating financial irregularities at the pro-independence Scottish National Party. Police in Scotland said Nicola, 52, was detained as a suspect in connection with an ongoing investigation into the funding and financial affairs of the Scottish National Party. They remain in custody and are being questioned by Scottish detectives, police said.
UK police do not name suspects until they are charged. The BBC and other media outlets identified the arrested woman as Nicola. His party is yet to comment.
