MADRID, 21 Jan. (.) –
The Hong Kong District Court has sentenced seven people this Saturday to between nine and 18 months in prison for participating in the protests against China in 2019.
The defendants, between the ages of 20 and 35, had been sentenced for participating in one of the marches, which occurred on December 13, 2019.
This concentration, according to the opinion of magistrate Josiah Lam, caused numerous material damages and affected businesses in the area, reports the RTHK chain.
The protests were directed against the declaration of the National Security Law, by which Beijing assumed security powers in what the opposition understood as an interference against the autonomy of the territory included in the Basic Law promulgated after the British return.
