The Noida Commissionerate Police of Uttar Pradesh has arrested three foreign nationals who committed fraud at the international level. In this, two are natives of Nigeria and one country of West Africa, Ghana. Fake dollars worth about Rs 13 crore and a fake passport in the name of actress Aishwarya Rai have been recovered from the accused.
Greater Noida DCP Abhishek Verma said, in the Beta-2 police station area, a retired colonel was cheated of Rs 1.81 crore in the name of giving cancer medicine. On the complaint of the retired colonel, Beta-2 Police and Cyber Crime Cell jointly investigated the case. Both the teams have caught three foreign nationals in this case on Friday. They have been identified as Ike Uferemwukwe, Edwin Collins and Okolio Damion.
About 13 lakh fake dollars have been received from the accused, whose value in Indian currency is about Rs 10 crore 76 lakh. Apart from this, 3,000 original US dollars, 211 notes of 50 pounds, printer-scanner, seal, fake passport in the name of actress Aishwarya Rai and material for making fake dollars have been recovered. Police say that this gang itself used to prepare fake dollars. This gang used to order its goods online.
DCP Abhishek Verma said, the accused are vicious cyber criminals. They trap people through matrimonial sites and dating apps.
Apart from this, lottery fraud, fraud by posing as a foreign girl on Facebook, fraud by becoming a custom officer in the name of sending parcels from abroad. Being the representative of a well-known foreign pharmaceutical company, they cheat people by giving the allurement of buying herbs at cheap prices and selling them at expensive prices.
