The cold has started showing its effect in the national capital Delhi. Friday was the coldest November morning in the last two years and the minimum temperature was recorded at 7.8 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal. India Meteorological Department gave this information. The weather office has predicted a partly cloudy sky throughout the day, while the maximum temperature is expected to be 27 degrees Celsius.
Friday’s minimum temperature (Delhi Weather Update) is the lowest in the month since November 23, 2020, when the city recorded a minimum temperature of 6.2 degrees Celsius. Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 273 at 9 am. According to IMD, there is no possibility of much deterioration in air quality in the coming days.
Winter in North India
Apart from Delhi, the cold has started increasing in the neighboring states as well. Due to snowfall in the mountains, there is also a drop in the temperature of the plains. The cold winds in the morning and evening have increased the chill. The torture of winter has started increasing in Rajasthan. Due to the effect of cold winds, a drop in temperature is being recorded in various districts of the state. Cold is also increasing in Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh. There will be further drop in temperature in the coming days.
Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh cold increased
The mercury is continuously falling in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh with further fall in the minimum temperature. The night temperature is likely to drop further in the coming days. An official of the Meteorological Department said, the minimum temperature in the valley and Ladakh region remained below the freezing point today.
The minimum temperature was minus 1.4 in Srinagar, minus 3.6 in Pahalgam and zero in Gulmarg. The minimum temperature was minus 12.7 in Drass town of Ladakh region, minus 11.3 in Kargil and minus 8.8 in Leh. The minimum temperature in both Jammu and Katra was 9.8, Batote 5.6, Banihal 5 and Bhaderwah 3.4 degrees Celsius.
