From Delhi-NCR to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, along with dense fog, the havoc of Sheetlahar dense fog has started to appear. While the states of South India are witnessing rains, the states of North India are witnessing severe cold and fog. More than 250 trains have been canceled due to fog.
Thick sheet of fog is being seen in many states from UP-Bihar to North India, due to which frequent road accidents are also happening. According to the Meteorological Department, for the next 3-4 days, most parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi-NCR will be wrapped in a blanket of fog.
Dense to very dense fog is likely to prevail over the plains of northern India for the next 4 days, leading to cancellation or diversion of trains and flights. Cold wave conditions will continue over UP, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and some other parts of North India.
Cold wave intensifies in Kashmir
Meanwhile, cold wave intensified across Kashmir as the temperature dropped below zero degree Celsius a day ahead of ‘Chillai Kalan’, the 40-day harshest winter period. ‘Chillai Kalan’ will start from 21st December till 30th January.

According to Skymet, light rain with one or two heavy spells occurred over southern islands of Andaman and Nicobar during last 24 hours. Light rain occurred over South Kerala and southern parts of Tamil Nadu and light rain at one or two places over Assam. Dense fog cover was observed over the Gangetic plains from Punjab to Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi. The air quality index of Delhi and NCR remained in the very poor to severe category.

Light rain is possible at one or two places over Interior Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep and Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
