Washington. PM Narendra Modi has reached America these days. His visit is of four days. Everyone is excited about PM’s visit. Meanwhile, the US Defense Ministry has expressed confidence in the diversification of India’s defense equipment. He says that America has full faith in India’s diversification of military equipment. It believes that Washington’s proposal for industrial cooperation will further integrate the defense industries of the two countries. At the same time, he has once again urged to end relations with Russia.
Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh told reporters on Tuesday that we welcome Prime Minister Modi to America. Everyone is excited about his visit. Recently, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin visited India in connection with Modi’s visit. There he met his counterpart Rajnath Singh. The Defense Minister of America had told that there have been deals between the two countries on many important issues. These will be announced during PM Modi’s US tour.
Significantly, on the invitation of US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached the US from June 21-24. Singh said that we strongly believe in diversification of India’s equipment. Over the past decade, our approach to industrial cooperation will further integrate the US and Indian defense industries.
Meanwhile, Sabrina talks about Russia. He said that the US urges all its partners and allies to avoid transactions with Russia. Regarding the sanctions imposed on Moscow, he said that we will always urge everyone to avoid dealings with Russia.
He said that both these are important issues. But it’s a completely different matter. Will urge India not to trade with Russia. However, when it comes to India, we are sure to diversify and integrate with their tools. When asked about possible defense deals during Prime Minister Modi’s visit, Singh said that before any announcement comes from White House or any other agencies, I cannot say anything.
America is imposing sanctions, the country is doing business
- India had signed a $5 billion deal with Russia in October 2018 to procure five units of the S-400 air defense missile system.
- Russia began delivery of the first regiment of the missile system in December 2021 and has been deployed in the northern sector to cover parts of the border with China as well as the border with Pakistan.
- Russia has been a major supplier of military hardware to India. In the wake of Western sanctions on Moscow, the two countries are discussing what kind of payment mechanisms could work between them.
