The PS4 is less and less sought after by Sony and could well disappear from the radar by next year.
The transition to the next generation at PlayStation is smooth. It’s already been over two years since the PS5 was released, and yet the PS4 still hasn’t become completely obsolete. Fortunately, because many games have continued to be released optimized for the old-gen console, and this is the case for large licenses such asHorizon Forbidden West or God of War Ragnarok.
However, the trend seems to be starting to reverse, much to the chagrin of PS4 gamers. Sony has just unveiled a trailer of the new games to come in 2023, with hits that we are waiting for impatiently. Only problem, most of them will not be released on older consoles of the firm. As the point Kotaku, only 8 of the 23 featured games will be released on PS4 this yearthe rest being reserved for the PS5 and PSVR 2.

In the video, we can see images of already extremely anticipated games such as Final Fantasy XVI, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor or Hogwarts Legacy. However, very few of them will be playable on PS4. A shortage that changed everything
If the transfer is done so slowly, it is because of the shortage of components which has upset the entire video game industry. Upon release, the PS5 suffered serious supply and construction issues due to rising raw material prices, shipping costs, and concerns about scalpers. While the PS4 was not quite old-gen yet, the PS5 struggled to move from next-gen to current-gen given the low number of homes equipped.
Even today, and this is completely normal, the number of PS4s used is much higher than the number of PS5s. But now that the situation seems settled at the level of the shortage, the PS5 will resume its rightful place and it seems logical that as homes equipped increase, the PS4 will be abandoned by the studios, who will divide the cost and development time of their games by reducing the number of platforms.
